Jet Pump Evaluation for Onshore Field Developments

iProdTech had been requested by a major oil and gas operator to conduct a Jet Pump feasibility study for their onshore fields in Africa. For one of the fields, the study included Jet Pump evaluation as part of artificial lift selection for the development wells and for another field, the evaluation was carried out for a trial in an extended well test while the field is in its appraisal stage. For both the projects, the key objectives were to determine high level power fluid requirements (power fluid pressures/rates) for a number of scenarios including range of well types & well life conditions for Field 1 and production from individual zones/commingled production for the DST trial in Field 2. For each scenario, a range of Jet Pump nozzle/throat combinations were evaluated.

For the purpose of Jet Pump Evaluation, an in-house Jet Pump modelling tool was used which has been developed by iProdTech based on Cunningham theory (Reference - Pump Handbook, Fourth Edition, Section 7.1: Jet Pump Theory, Richard G Cunningham). The main feature of this tool is that it takes into account multi-phase flow and critical flow through Jet Pumps.
